Experience Windows Phone Interface On Any Smartphone Device

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Saturday, December 3, 2011 | 6:33 AM

Its really tough for every Smartphone device owner to suddenly switch towards new mobile OS, because the whole new experience of new OS always need time and you dont want to take a risk. But if you are a Smartphone geek and always wants to try something new and if you are curious about Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) OS from Microsoft than you can try it for free without making new hardware changes on your iOS (iPad or iPhone), Android phone or any other Smartphone device you have.

Microsoft has launched a new website called http://aka.ms/wpdemo which allow users to experience and try Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) on their devices at free of cost. If you visit above mentioned link in your smartphone than you'll be redirected to an interactive HTML5 page that gives you a very detailed introduction to the look and feel of Windows Phone 7.5. While it is not a native experience, it does provide a very immersive demonstration that does give you a solid look into using the new OS.

In my personal view i think its a Microsoft marketing strategy to let smartphone users experience Windows Phone and more likely to make your next purchase be a Windows Phone device. If you have experienced above link than tell us how you feel it in our comment box.

Angry Birds Available for Windows Phone 7 - Download and Play Now

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Thursday, June 30, 2011 | 5:25 AM

The most popular game of all time for Smartphones and Mobile devices name "Angry Birds" is now available for Windows Phone 7 users too. Now Windows Phone users can also play worlds most popular game Angry Birds on their devices. The game Angry Birds has launch with the collaboration of Rovio Mobile and Microsoft Studios. The game was first made originally only for Apple iOS, then Android and many other platforms including the web through Google Chrome, and finally it has made its debut on Microsofts latest mobile OS.

According to the Microsoft Studio's;
Angry Birds is coming to Windows Phone! The survival of the angry birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the birds eggs. Use the unique destructive powers of the angry birds to lay waste to the pigs fortified castles. Each of the 165 levels requires logic, skill and brute force to crush the enemy.

Windows Phone version of Angry Birds is fully featured and loaded as their iOS/Android counterparts; however falls slightly short on the level count, as the Windows Phone 7 version only has 165 levels in comparison to the 255 available on Android currently. This is made up for with full Xbox LIVE integration, as youd expect from a Microsoft Studios published games.

Angry Birds is now available for the price of USD 2.99$ at the Marketplace. We know this price is higher than other mobile platforms, but still it's great to see the famous Angry Birds make its way on Windows Phone 7, but if you dont want to spend the money right now, dont worry, you can also try a free trial version if you want to test out the game before you buy it. You can get Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 now via the Marketplace here.

Nokia to Launch first Windows Phones Smartphone in Europe this Year

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Friday, June 17, 2011 | 12:30 PM

As we know Nokia has already announced that they will teaming up with Microsoft to build Smartphone's based on Windows Phone 7 Operating System. The two companies wants to enhance their partnership to the next level, Microsoft says the strategic partnership will allow both companies to use their "complementary strengths" to create a new "global mobile ecosystem" which will almost certainly take Windows Phone 7 market share to a whole new level. Nokia will make Windows Phone 7 their "principal smartphone strategy" (in other words, it's going to be their main operating system for all their phones) with plans to work in partnership with Microsoft on both software and hardware features. Nokia will make their primary OS for smartphones "Symbian" OS as a "franchise platform", with MeeGo soon with an emphasis placed on longer term market exploration for next generation devices, platforms and user experiences.

Nokia has confirmed today that its first wireless phones based on the Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system will launch later this year in Six European Countries includes; Netherlands, France, Germany, England, Spain, and Italy. Interestingly, Finland, the country where Nokia is based in is absent in the list. According to Venture Beat report; Vice President of Nokia Europe Victor Saeijs said that the first Nokia WP7 devices will hit the market in 2011 and he even said he had one in his pocket, but he chose not to share it with the audience as it was an early pre-production prototype.

Nokia has been using its own Symbian based operating system, for its phones for years but will phase out the OS in favor of Windows Phone 7, Nokia more said that they will still release phones with new versions of the Symbian OS. Venture Beat reports that the Netherlands would get phones with the Symbian Anna OS installed in July. Another major update, code named Belle, is also expected to be released by Nokia later this year.

Windows Phone to Overtake iPhone by 2015 - IDC Report

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Sunday, June 12, 2011 | 8:30 AM

According to the latest IDC report regarding Worldwide Smartphone Operating System Market Share, IDC has declared that the Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 will overtake the market share of the Apple's iPhone by 2015. In fact under the figures, the iPhone market share would decrease with Android taking the lead with 43.8% in 2015. Google's Android will keep its top spot in 2015, grabbing almost 44 percent of the global market, while Apple's iOS will hug third place with a 16.9 percent share.

The researchers believes that by switching to Windows Phone as the core OS on its devices, Nokia will provide the kick that Microsoft needs, especially in global regions where Nokia has enjoyed robust demand. Microsoft's mobile OS will continue to hang onto a small chunk of the market until 2012 when IDC expects Windows Phone-equipped Nokia devices to start shipping in large numbers.

IOS's market share is expected to inch down from its current 18.2 percent, Apple will still see a dramatic increase in smartphone shipment growth through the end of 2015. In second place this year, Symbian will quickly lose market share as Nokia phases it out in favor of Windows Phone. By 2015, IDC sees Symbian's market share as virtually nil. The IDC Report also mentions the decrease of the iOS and BlackBerry slightly due to being squeezed, essentially, into a smaller area of the market. They place the reasoning for Android's growth on the popularity it has with phone manufacturers and vendors.

Windows Phone 7 Gets "VoIP"; iPhone "FaceTime" Competitor ?

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 | 7:54 AM

Microsoft had a solid CES appearance with the announcement of many new key products. But sometimes its not whats said at the main events but inside conversations that can provide a peek into the upcoming products from the company.

At a high profile CES Event, a key WP7 employee delivered, in an off comment fashion, a few tips about where the platform may be headed. One feature that was discussed was that Microsoft is working on a FaceTime type like application for Windows Phone platform.

Now we have confirmed the news that Microsoft is working on a Apple iPhone's "Facetime" competitor, a feature of the platform that allows the user to make video phone calls to other users of the iPhone.

The registry keys "VoIP" and "SIP" are hidden inside the "ControlPanel" portion of the registry, and both seem to be set to be off (by having "0" under their "Enabled" value). It's worth noting that for some reason, these keys are in a portion of the registry that contains other features that are fundamental to the platform, such as theme colors. Right now, we don't have write access to the registry to attempt to turn it on, but hopefully in the near future the homebrew community may allow us to do this.

The VoIP feature has not been revealed before, and it is not certain whether or not this will be used for the "Facetime" like feature, or if it would be available for actual VoIP calling to other Windows Phone 7 users.
