Mozilla Firefox 4 Officially Released - Download and Install Now

Release Date of Mozilla Firefox 4 Announced

After a year of development and testing twelve betas and one release candidate version, Mozilla has now finally going to release its most awaited final web browser version of Firefox 4 on March, 22 at 7AM PDT. Mozilla has already released its RC version of Firefox 4 on March, 9.

According to Mozilla's senior engineer director Damon Sicore in its message to developers says that, the first and only Firefox 4 release candidate would likely ship as the final version of the browser.

Damon Sicore has further said that:

''As of now, there are no known issues that would stop us from shipping RC1 as final, March 22nd is the day we would ship.  Both IT and Marketing have indicated that March 22nd is an acceptable final launch date.  If at any time we discover issues that would block final release, we would issue an RC2 as soon as possible, reset the ship date, and communicate to everyone,''

Tech blog ConceivablyTech spotted the date on Mozilla's official release schedule yesterday.

The final version of Firefox 4 was originally scheduled to ship in November 2010, but repeated delays saw the release schedule revised on more than one occasion. Given that rather chequered history, it remains to be seen if Firefox 4 will actually ship on March 22 as planned. Mozilla has also indicated a desire to move to a faster release schedule following Firefox 4, with mozilla.org co-founder and Mozilla CTO Brendan Eich telling developer�s users could be running the fifth version of Firefox just months after Firefox 4 is released.

Firefox 4 Beta 3 encloses Windows 7 touch support

Mozilla has released the latest beta for Firefox 4, making this is the 3rd beta in the Firefox 4 development cycle. Beta 3 is available in more than 30 languages, 10 more than the last update. The beta also enables Windows 7 multi-touch support, which allows users the ability to interact with the browser without the need of a mouse. Several JavaScript tweaks have also been implemented to give the user a more streamlined and faster experience.

Beta 3 also changes to the C++ representation of JavaScript, which enables Firefox to execute numeric code more efficiently, allowing for more streamlined graphics in web applications.

As with the past betas, the Mozilla Labs feedback add-on is included, giving a user the chance to submit any bugs or errors they find using Beta 3. Mozilla recommends users keep the feedback add-on enabled, as it gives Mozilla the ability to better track bugs and errors found within the browser. Mozilla states the feedback addition has allowed for more than a half-million testers to submit approximately 3,500 pieces of feedback every day. Additional statistics show that the majority of people using the Firefox 4 Beta are males, who use the web between 2-6 hours every day, and use Firefox for communication and entertainment.

Mozilla Released first mobile Firefox Browser

Mozilla has officially released the first mobile Firefox, a condensed version of the popular open-source browser that runs on Nokia's Maemo platform.

Codenamed 'Fennec,' Firefox 1.0 for Maemo was previously available only as a beta. Mozilla calls this the first mobile web browser to accomodate add-ons - long a staple of the Firefox desktop browser. More than 40 add-ons are already available for the new mobile platform, including AdBlock Plus, the most famous of Firefox extensions.

The inaugural mobile Firefox also offers Mozilla's Awesome Bar, a way of quickly returning to sites you've visited in the past; the new Weave Sync tool, for synchronizing bookmarks and other Firefox settings across multiple machines; and, yes, those familiar Firefox tabs.

Two days ago, when it pushed out a third release candidate for Firefox mobile 1.0, Mozilla removed support for an Adobe plug-in, saying it had "degraded the performance of the browser to the point where it didn't meet our standards." Instead, the open sourcers urge you to install a YouTube Enabler add-on that will at least let you watch Googlevideos on the browser.

Mozilla is currently alpha testing a version of Fennec for Window Mobile, and it has prototyped Firefox browsers for Google's Android platform.
