Windows 8 Design, Interface and UI Demo Video Revealed by Microsoft

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Friday, June 3, 2011 | 6:23 AM

No more wait for Microsoft Windows 8 first look, Microsoft has officially declared and revealed most awaited version of Windows after Windows 7 codename 'Windows 8'. The Microsoft official event were not streamed live, the video from Computex has now been posted up for everyone to view. The upcoming version of Windows 8 will look a lot like Windows Phone 7. But the familiar PC design is still there to support systems.

Microsoft revealed the design and UI Demo for Windows 8 at the All Things Digital Conference. Microsoft is now borrowing a page from Apple's iOS and Google's Android. Windows 8 takes the colorful tiles and finger-swipe gestures from the Windows Phone operating system and expands them to a larger screen in this demo, 10.6 inches diagonally.

The video goes into detail about Microsoft's next operating system. The video focuses on the tablet interface which shows Microsoft's strategy for combating iOS and Android in the tablet market. In the video, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Mike Angiulo, takes the stage and shows off the platform in a 32 minute long presentation.

Windows 8 is still in development, so it's unclear how well the system will run on tablets. The demo was silky smooth, but the touchscreen Microsoft used was connected to a hidden desktop computer, rather than contained within the portable hardware.

Microsoft says Windows 8 will be able to run on processors designed by ARM Holdings, in addition to Intel chips. That's an important addition because ARM's technology is winning among most smartphone and tablet makers. ARM President Tudor Brown predicted on Monday that his chips will be used in at least half of all mobile devices sold, which includes laptops.

Internet Explorer 10 To Launch With Windows 8?

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Friday, March 18, 2011 | 11:12 AM

Rumors are spreading rapidly now a days about Microsoft Windows 8 operating system. Internet Explorer 9 has already launched by Microsoft, infact its not even a month of its release and now, Internet Explorer 10 rumors are already starting to surface. The latest, and possibly first, IE10 rumor says that it will ship with Windows 8.

This information has been leaked by Chinese website Win7China, who is claiming that they have a solid source of information that this rumor holds a bit of weight. They also state that IE10 is already in Windows 8 M3, but we have yet to confirm that information.

The idea of including IE10 with Windows 8 seems logical. Considering that IE9 just launched, if the rumored Windows 8 launch days are correct, the browser would be well over a year old when Windows 8 finally ships to the consumer. Other than this little bit of information, not much else is known about IE10.

The factory restore feature will not require a disk to be inserted to accomplish this task and the required hard disk space to do this is said to be minimal.

The Chinese site also confirmed several other items that we knew would be incorporated into Windows 8 including an app store and the ability to log in using Windows Live ID.  The picture below was also leaked that shows the Windows Live ID login in the task bar that confirms the Windows Live ID login.

Release Date of Windows 8 and Windows 7 SP Leaked Out

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Friday, January 21, 2011 | 8:24 AM

The latest news and information about Windows 8 and Windows 7 SP2 Launch Date has been leaked out by Wzor.net, who is very well known for as Infamous Leaker. Wzor.net has confirmed the news about the launching of Windows 8 pre beta and about Windows 7 SP2 launch.

According to Wzor.net Windows 7 SP2 is already actively underway since the autumn of 2010, and if all goes according to plan then the appearance of a second service pack, Service Pack 2 for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 is expected in mid-2012 " and looking forward to Windows 8, Wzor states, " Windows 8 is scheduled for the very end of 2012, so it really can be called: Microsoft Windows 2012 Apocalypse Edition, at least the server version will be named as Windows Server 2012."

Further, for more recent information, the site states that Microsoft is planning two betas for Windows 8 and states that at least one, if not both versions, will be for public consumption and three months after the RC is released, Windows 8 will go RTM. Specific dates were not mentioned.

By far the biggest bombshell is that "according to our information, Microsoft will plan to begin selling boxed retail versions of Microsoft Windows on Monday January 7, 2013!

Again all this information comes from a reputable leaker but as with any information, its subject to verification. Hopefully the information is on track but as for Windows 8 leaks, Wzor states, Possible leaks in the network of test assemblies may be expected only close to the appearance of the first beta version of Windows 8 Beta 1"

Intel To Integrate Windows 8 Into Phones

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 | 10:31 PM

In Intel financials conference call with CEO Paul Otellini, Intel has shared information about Windows 8 to put into Mobile Phones. Otellini discussed the companys future plans for products, including mobile phones.
Intel openly talked about the possibility of having a mobile phone running Windows 8. The only holdback in the near future with a full OS running on a mobile device is battery life. Intel was quoted, via ZDnet.com that Windows 8 could run on their lowest-power Intel processor.

We have the ability to put our lowest-power Intel processors running Windows 8, or next-generation Windows, into phones, because it's the same OS stack. And I look at that as an upside opportunity for us.

After Microsoft announced that Windows 8 will be able to run on a wide variety of processors, including ARM, the possibilities of running Windows 8 anywhere became a reality.

It's still unclear what direction Microsoft wishes to pursue with Windows 8 on mobile devices. Although it would be great to have Windows 8 running on a tablet PC, would Microsoft ever want to release a line of mobile phones running Windows 8? Windows 8 is still more than a year away, and with Microsoft's newly launched Windows Phone 7 operating system, it wouldn't make much sense to replace the OS after a years time, but perhaps a slimmed down version of Windows 8 might be ideal for a dual-OS phone.

Microsoft Windows 8, Another Success after 7?

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 | 3:30 AM

Everyone seems to waiting for Microsoft another OS Windows 8 after the success of Windows 7, which should arrive in early-2012, has yet to receive much media attention. Thats probably because the most exciting thing weve heard about it so far is that it might have an app store, and other leaks have all been centered around performance improvements (which are a given).

Microsoft has a lot riding on Windows 8. Windows Vista hurt Microsofts reputation (rightly or wrongly), and Windows 7 was its savior. Windows 8 needs to be better than Windows 7 in ways that consumers can see, understand, and experience, and it needs to give consumers a reason to upgrade (or cross-grade) for it to equal or surpass Windows 7. The software giants latest release of Windows has skyrocketed PC sales, and scores a rating of94 percent customer satisfaction, according to CEO Steve Ballmer.

In the last few years, Microsoft has seen a lot of change with the departure of Gates, and then Bach and Allard in recent months, and with constant management shuffling, it will be interesting to see how Microsoft pulls its resources together to make Windows 8 the success that many are expecting it to be.

Is Windows 8 for July 2011?

Written By Lingkar Dunia on Thursday, January 28, 2010 | 6:52 AM

MicrosoftIs Microsoft looking to close the gaps between major OS updates? A posting on an MSDN blog may shed some serious light on Microsofts upcoming release schedule. According to Chris Green, a developer who recently finished working for Microsoft, Windows 8 mainstream support is targeted for 07/01/2011 which is the first date that we have seen regarding the release of Microsofts next OS.

Other dates of interest are for Office 2012 which shows a targeted date 7/2/2012. While there is a lot of speculation involved with the release dates mentioned, some of the dates are correct for previous launches. The chart stipulates Office 2010 for a June release and we know that this has already been confirmed by Microsoft.

The dates, as always, should be taken with a grain of salt. But, the depth and detail of the chart is impressive and should give us a rough estimate of Microsofts upcoming plans. The full chart is posted below, (warning: PDF).
